EVALUATION OF PATIENT SATISFACTION BY USING QUALITY OF LIFE SCALES IN OPEN SEPTORINOPLASTY
1Yozgat Bozok Üniversitesi, KBB Anabilim Dalı, Yozgat, Türkiye Aim: The aim of this study is to measure the functional and aesthetic satisfaction of patients who underwent open technique septorhinoplasty by using Nasal Obstruction Symptoms Evaluation (NOSE), Rhinoplasty Outcomes Evaluation (ROE), Standardized Cosmesis and Health Nasal Outcomes Survey (SCHNOS) questionnaires. Additionally this syudy also evaluates the correlation between NOSE and ROE scales with the SCHNOS scale.Material and Methods: In presented study, the data of 36 patients who underwent primary open technique septorhinoplasty between March 2019 and January 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. The NOSE scale was used to evaluate the functional results, and the ROE scale for the aesthetic results. In addition, SCHNOS questionnaire was used to evaluate both aesthetic and functional results.
Results: The average age of 36 patients, 15 males and 21 females, was 32.6. A statistically significant improvement was observed in the postoperative mean NOSE, ROE, SCHNOS-O and SCHNNOS-C scores compared with the preoperative values. In addition, strong positive correlation was found between NOSE and SCHNOS-O (obstruction) scores, and strong negative correlation was determined between ROE and SCHNOS-C (cosmesis) scores.
Conclusion: In this study, a strong positive correlation was found between the NOSE and SCHNOS-O scores, and a strong negative correlation between the ROE and SCHNOS-C scores. The SCHNOS questionnaire alone itself may be used to evaluate the functional and aesthetic outcomes of septorhinoplasty on patient satisfaction.
