Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the frequency of high-placement related conduction and mixed hearing loss in the community, which is useful for surgical and clinical awareness.

Methods: In this study, between the dates of 2014 and 2017, 850 temporal computed tomography (CT) examinations which took place in the 2-detector CT (General Electric, HiSpeed Dual) were evaluated retrospectively. We included in the study a total of 170 high-placement juguler bulbus patients diagnosed with hearing loss associated with pulsatile tinnitus. The types and rates of hearing loss in these patients are examined.

Results: High –placement juguler bulbus was detected in 110 of 170 patients on the right side (65%) and on the left side (35%). Mixed type hearing loss accompanied pulsatile tinnitus in 70.5% of these patients and conductive type hearing loss in 29.5% with pulsatile tinnitus.

Conclusion: Conductive or mixed type of hearing loss that can not detectetiology can be caused by the high-placement juguler bulbus. Consideration of the frequency of this condition is important for surgical and clinical approaches. Keywords : Conductive type hearing loss, high–placement juguler bulbus, mixed type hearing loss
