THE IMPACT OF TINNITUS IN PATIENTS WITH NORMAL HEARING

Materials and Methods: "Tinnitus Handicap Inventory" and "Tinnitus Severity Index " were applied to 100 subjective tinnitus patients with normal hearing according to the pure tone average. The results obtained were compared according to gender.
Results: Although the degree of tinnitus was found in both groups at a moderate level, it was found that the total score of female participants was statistically significantly higher. The total score, functional and emotional subgroup scores of the tinnitus handicap inventory were obtained higher in female compared to male. A positive relationship was found between the degree of tinnitus and the disability it caused.
Conclusion: As the degree of tinnitus increases, its negative effect on quality of life increases. According to study data, the disability caused by tinnitus affects female more than male.
