CORRECTION OF THE DORSAL SEPTAL DEVIATION IN CROOKED NOSES WITH SPREADER GRAFTS
1Safranbolu Devlet Hastanesi, K.B.B. Kl., Karabük, Türkiye2S.S.K. Hastanesi, K.B.B. Kl., Karabük, Türkiye In the crooked noses, restoring the septum as strong and straight is the key to success. For this reason, correction of dorsal septal deviations becomes important. Different correction techniques are described in this pathology. In this study, the results of 12 cases having crooked noses whose dorsal septal deviations were corrected using spreader graft and which were followed at least 6 months were evaluated. In 10 cases; autologue septal cartilages and in 2 cases; autologue costal cartilages were used as graft materials. Grafts were placed on the convex side of the septum in away supporting the internal valve. In the cases, together with an easy breathing, a strong dorsum in the midline was also provided. In the crooked noses, the restoration of septum as straight and in the midline requires the correct diagnosis and use of cartilage grafting with open technique in most cases. In this way, a sufficient internal valve angle is also provided. However, surgeons should not forget that pathologies in the crooked noses differ from one another and combined tecniques are often required. Recurrence and revision rates are high even in the best hands. Keywords : Crooked nose, open tecnique rhinoplasty, dorsal septal deviation, septoplasty, spreader graft
