Secondary medial migration of a ventilation tube is medial displacement of a tube initially seen in the correct position, but later seen extruded into the middle ear, medial to a healed, intact tympanic membrane. This is an extremely rare complication and is different from displacement of the tube into the middle ear due to a large myringotomy incision. In this paper, we have discussed 6- and 7-year-old two cases in whom the ventilation tubes were observed behind intact tympanic membranes 1.5 and 3 years after insertion of them. The cases have been discussed in the light of the literature for etiopathogenesis and treatment strategies.
