Okmeydanı Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, 1.KBB, İstanbul, Türkiye Objectives: To assess the concha bullosa types and to present our experiences in management of concha bullosa over 10 years and to discuss within the concha bullosa with related literature.Materials and Methods: Surgical interventions were performed on 226 patients (347 CB) for 10 years. Radiological and histopathological findings of these cases were reviewed retrospectively.
Results: 139 of the 226 patients were female and 87 were male. The age at presentation ranged from 14 to 59 years (average age 32, SD: 27.36). The most common complaints were nasal obstruction, headache and potnasal discharge. In 326 (93.95%) of the 347 CB, a pneumatized cavity, in 11 (3.17 %) CB collection of pus (pyocele) was observed. A bony septum, polyp, fungus ball, were the other pathologies associated with CB in 10 (2,88%) cases.
Conclusion: Although most of the CB cases have pneumatized cavity, it should be kept in mind that some other pathologies can be associated with CB.
