A CASE OF LARYNGEAL AMYLOIDOSIS

2Isparta Devlet Hastanesi, Patoloji, Isparta, Türkiye Amyloidosis is a disease demonstrated to be frequently in systemic form, but sometime it may be found as localized form in some organs. Larynx, which is the first in frequency of organ involvement, is the most frequently involved site of localized amyloidosis.

Laryngeal amyloidosis, which is an infrequent entity, is treated by surgery or CO2 laser. Recurrence is frequent following intervention. We have determined 3x2 cm mass in the right aryepiglottic fold in a patient with the complaints of intermittant dyspnea and dysphonia. Histopathologic evaluation of biopsy specimen taken under local anesthesia has revealed amyloidosis. During preoperative evaluation, the volume of mass seems to be regressed from 3x2 to 1x1 cm. The volume of mass was 0.5x0.5 cm at third month after biopsy and follow-up period is going on. Keywords : Amyloidosis, larynx, regression, laryngeal neoplasm
