DERMATOFIBROSARCOMA PROTUBERANS OF PREAURICULAR REGION: A CASE REPORT

²Selçuk Üniversitesi Meram Tıp Fakültesi Patoloji Anabilim Dalı, Konya, Türkiye Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is characterized as a low grade, slow infiltrative growth, rate of high recurrence if it's not adequately treated, malignant mesenchymal tumor that arises in dermis. The most common sites of origin are the skin of trunk, but it is rare in the head and neck area. A 65 year old male patient admitted to our department due to a mass in the left preauricular region of growing for two years. It was an ulcerative mass with non-tender, firm, motionless, about the diameter of 1x2 cm and crust of the surface. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is diagnosed histopathologically and tumor resected of total in 3 cm negative radial surgical margin and superficial parotidectomy. Postoperative radiotherapy applied to patient because of the involment of deep margin. No evidence of local recurrences or distant metastasis was detected during a follow-up period of 18 months. The present study is presented considering literature patient with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans due to its special treatment and rare tumor.
