FORESTIER DISEASE IN THE ETIOLOGY OF DYSPHAGIA: CASE REPORT

SB Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Hastanesi, 2.KBB Kliniği, Ankara, Türkiye Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis (DISH) (Ankylosing hiperostosis, Forestier Disease, spondylitis ossificans ligamentosa), is a chronic disease characterized by widespread spinal osteofit formation due to enchondral ossification of paravertebral ligament and muscles. Dysphagia occurs 0,1-6 % of the adult population whose cervical region affected by DISH. These patients are usually treated conservatively with dietary changes and anti-inflammatory drugs. Surgical treatments can be needed for patients in whom medical treatment is failed. Diagnose and treatment modalities of a 58 year old man applied with dysphagia are discussed with literature.
