Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi KBB Anabilim Dalı, Diyarbakır, Türkiye After the tonsillectomy, the pain is one of the most important reason which affects the postoperative morbidity. The plasmakinetic surgery technique is one of the new techniques applied in tonsillectomy and it is mentioned that it has many advantages. Of the 39 patients that were included in our study, 20 of them undergone tonsillectomy by cold dissection, and 19 of them by plasmakinetic surgery technique. Then, in postoperative 1st,3th,7th days, the pain was evaluated by visual analogue scale. The pain in plasmakinetic tonsillectomy group(PT) was less than the cold dissection group (CT) in the 1st postoperative day as shown statistically. But, in the 3th and 7th days, no significant difference was observed. In brief, the plasmakinetic tonsillectomy technique remarkably causes less pain than the cold dissection technique in early postoperative period and it decreases the morbidity.
