Objective: In our study we aimed at researching on tumor budding and its effect on the other pathologic factors in parotid gland mucoepidermoid cancers.

Methods: We included in the study a total of 20 patients diagnosed with parotid gland mucoepidermoid carcinoma from 2006 to 2016. The files of the patients included into the study were examined. The patients’ pathologic tissue cross-sections were retrieved from the archives and evaluated for tumor budding.

Results: There was no statistically significant relationship between tumor budding and age, sex, perineural invasion, extracapsular extension, pathologic lymph node, and pathologic tumor stage (p>0.05).Whereas there was a statistically significant relationship between tumor budding and tumor grade and lymphovascular invasion (p<0.05). However tumor budding was found not to be an independent risk factor on these prognostic factors. (p>0.05).

Conclusion: Lymphovascular invasion and high tumor grade may be seen in cases of mucoepidermoid carsinoma with more than five tumor buddings. In such cases the prognosis of mucoepidermoid cancer may be affected negatively. Keywords : Parotid, mucoepidermoid carcinoma, tumor budding
