Objective: The aim of our study is to evaluate thesurgical outcome of pediatric tympanoplasty and to identify the factors that could influence the success rates.

Methods: Fifty-six childeren (62 ear (30 left and 32 right)) who had undergone tympanoplasty were evaluated. Age, gender, perforation features, status of contrlateral ear, operation technique, graft material, ossiculer chain status and reconstuction, tympanosclerosispresence, follow-up time, preoperative and postoperative audiometric analysis and graft success rate of the patients were detected.

Results: Therewere 33 male and 29 female patients with a mean age of 13.35 years (range from 9 to 16 years). The mean follow-up time was 14.22 months(range from 3 to 60 months). The overall graft success rate was 88%. The mean preoperative and postoperative air-bone gap were 26.08±11.01 dB and 20.36±12.99 dB, respectively and the difference was statistically significant (p=0.009).

Conclusion: Recently, pediatric tympanoplasty operations have been successfullyperformed due to advanced surgical techniques and increased experiences. Keywords : Tympanoplasty, child, hearing
