C-Reactive Protein (CRP), Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESH) and Procalcitonin (PCT) are the most frequently ordered tests in outpatient, emergency room and inpatient settings. The correct interpretation of these acute-phase reactants are important when differentiating between viral and bacterial infections when serious infections are present, identifying non-infectious inflammations, monitoring response to treatment and managing inappropriate antibiotic use. This study looks at the appropriate use and importance of these acute-phase reactants in clinical practice. Keywords : C-Reactive Protein, Procalcitonin, Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate
