EVALUATION OF SKIN PRICK TEST RESULTS OF PATIENTS WITH ALLERGIC RHINITIS IN KILIS REGION

1Kütahya Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, KBB Anabilim Dalı, Kütahya, Türkiye Objective: The aim of the study was to identify the responsible allergens in patients with allergic rhinitis in Kilis region and contribute to the establishment the map of allergen distribution to the our country.

Material AND Methods: We retrospectively evaluated skin prick test results of 214 suspicous of allergic rhinitis patients who applied to Kilis State Hospital Department of Otolaryngology between November 2015 and October 2016.

Results: One hundred and fourteen (53.3%) of 214 patients who underwent skin prick test were reactive to at least one allergen. Patients were 72 (63.2%) female and 42 (36.8%) male. The ages of the patients were between 5 and 60 (mean age was 26.2±11.4). Prick test positivity were most freguent in the age group of 21 to 30 years old in 37 patients (32.5%). 41 patients (36%) were reactive to only one allergen and 73 (64%) patients were reactive to more than one allergen. The most common allergens were tree pollens I positive in 46 patients (40.4%) and tree pollens II positive in 40 patients (35.1%). In sequence grass mix, mites I, weeds, cereals were common allergens.

Conclusions: The most common allergen was tree pollens in patients with allergic rhinitis in Kilis region. Keywords : Prick test, allergic rhinitis, pollen, mite
