Introduction: Different types of pistons are used in otosclerosis surgery. This study examines the hearing results obtained after placement of Teflon and titanium prosthesis materials in primery stapes surgery.

Method and Materials: A retrospective study was carried out on 32 patients who underwent 0.5 mm stapedotomy, using teflon piston and titanium a`Wengen CliP-piston were included in the study. between 2006 and 2017Air and bone conduction threshold values at 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 Hz were analyzed in the preoperative and postoperative audiological examinations.

Findings: This study includes 32 patients, 16 of whom received Teflon piston, and the other 16 received Titanyum a`Wengen CliP-piston. Statistically significant improvements were seen in the post-operative average air bone passage threshold values and ranges in both groups. Comparing the hearing results of two different types of pistons didn't show any statistically significant difference.

Result: Similar postoperative audiological results were obtained from teflon and titanium piston groups. In addition to audiological results, ease of piston placement and fixation, any likely complication that may occur due to the piston after surgery and associated costs are some factors to consider in piston selection.
