ASSESSMENT TOOLS FOR OTOLOGIC SURGICAL PROCEDURES

Proficiency in the performance of an operative procedure is a fundamental to a successful outcome. To guarantee the best surgical results, surgical residents are assessed objectively for their surgical skills. For otologic surgical education, various assessment tools have been developed. In recent years application of virtual reality simulations has changed the traditional assessment process. This review evaluated otologic surgical assessment tools from cadaveric temporal bone dissection to virtual reality applications.
