APPROACH TO VOCAL NODULES AND TREATMENT RESULTS

Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, KBB Anabilim Dalı, Aydın, Türkiye Vocal cord nodules are the most common causes of hoarse voice in adults and children. The detected frequency of nodules is much higher who perform their jobs by their voice. This study was conducted on 46 patients consulted with hoarse voice complaint between December 1999 and March 2002 and diagnosed as “vocal cord nodule” 18 of the patients were male and 28 female with 11 patients belonging to childhood age group. The average observation period of the patients was 13 weeks. 24 of the patients were teachers, 3 religion profession, 8 students, 1 professional singer, 1 medical doctor, 1 nurse, 8 from other professional groups. The results of the “ Visual biofeedback” voice therapy applied to the patients and operative treatment were summarized. Keywords : Vocal cord nodule, Voice therapy, Phonosurgery
